I am a huge fan of Disneynature, and a even bigger fan of Alaskan brown bears. I was born in interior Alaska, and studied wildlife biology at the university there. This movie was a huge disappointment to me. The amount of anthropomorphism is shocking for a documentary. Disneynature used to be educational, instead we get this story about bear cubs who are "too old for bear rides" and are "looking for a role model". Bears don't have these feelings, this is just a ploy to make children feel like they are connecting with the "characters" in the story. They even go as far as playing sultry music during an interaction with a male and female bear, which they don't even call a boar and sow, and tell the boar that he "has no game" and "maybe he should go pick some flowers" for the sow. If you want to teach your children that bears are just like people, have the same feelings and insecurities as children, and they're just go lucky little critters trying to figure out how to grow up, by all means show them this video. If you want something that is educational about the life cycle and behaviors of bears, find something more worthwhile.

I saw this at the theater and I really enjoyed the bears and the comedy just like chimpanzee. But it did get boring towards the end unlike that movie. It's still really enjoyable though.
