The movie is tricky: it purposely distracts you from that and pushes Weisz to the front with McAdams always lingering in the drab background just like her clothes, always hiding who she is, what she wants. As we go on, "choice" and McAdams come to the spotlight. The viewer has a choice of which character to focus on. Subdued yet powerful. Brilliant.
