À propos de ce film

Over twenty years ago, aliens made first contact with Earth. Humans waited for the hostile attack, or the giant advances in technology. Neither came. Instead, the aliens were refugees, the last survivors of their home world. The creatures were set up in a makeshift home in South Africa's District 9 as the world's nations argued over what to do with them. Now, patience over the alien situation has run out. Control over the aliens has been contracted out to Multi-National United (MNU), a private company uninterested in the aliens' welfare -- they will receive tremendous profits if they can make the aliens' awesome weaponry work. So far, they have failed; activation of the weaponry requires alien DNA. The tension between the aliens and the humans comes to a head when an MNU field operative, Wikus van der Merwe (Sharlto Copley), contracts a mysterious virus that begins changing his DNA. Wikus quickly becomes the most hunted man in the world, as well as the most valuable -- he is the key to unlocking the secrets of alien technology. Ostracized and friendless, there is only one place left for him to hide: District 9. (Original Title - District 9) (c) 2009 District 9 Ltd. All Rights Reserved.

Playing on South African history of District 6 in apartheid times the story has been given a update into the sci-fi world. At first I thought it was going to be a cheap attempt but was impressed at the end. The violence is heavy but does have it's place in the movie.

Great idea, great special effects and great acting. Only one grumble, with the budget obviously in the millions you'd think they could afford a tripod for the camera, the camera wobble is VERY annoying and gives you motion sickness during viewing. Note to film makers, don't let some one with Parkinson's hold the camera, use a stand or tripod of some kind.

This film has everything! The aliens are believable which is key in these sort of films and Wikus is a likeable character who you care about throughout the film, despite his moments of being an idiot. The relationship between him and Christopher is brilliant and the whole film feels like an important message in oppression, especially for Wikus. Funny and wonderful, I love it!
