Pleasantly surprised by how good and faithful this was to the shining. The biggest issue I have is that the shining didn't need a sequel - its a standalone genre defining film. The premiss of the group of protagonists is dark and conceptually brillant but the execution is poor and gets cheesy, main young actress overacts and a bit too woke for my liking but of course Ewan is holds it all together with a safe pair of hands.

Dare to go back to the overlook hotel I did and really enjoyed the movie, The Shining one of my favourite horror movie ever so was really excited that we was getting a 2nd chapter in the shining universe. Never read the book so had no idea what the plot was but it kept me hooked and keeps loyal to Stanley Kubrick's 1980 masterpiece.

Herrrrrre's Ewan! "In many ways Doctor Sleep overcame the obstacles of the book-movie adaptation, but was ultimately hindered by how weak the book was in comparison with the legacy of The Shining..." For more from Emily Shears, see the full Doctor Sleep review: bit.ly/DoctorSleepFilm
