"Stephen King's Doctor Sleep" est la suite de l'histoire de Danny Torrance, 40 ans après les événements terrifiants de Shining. Traumatisé de manière irrémédiable par son passage à l'Overlook, Dan Torrance s'est battu pour trouver un semblant de paix. Mais celle-ci vole en éclats lorsqu'il rencontre Abra, une courageuse adolescente possédant son propre pouvoir extrasensoriel, le "Shining". Ayant découvert instinctivement que Dan possède le même pouvoir, Abra se confie à lui et demande son aide contre l'impitoyable Rose et sa tribu, le Nœud Vrai, qui se nourrissent du Shining des innocents pour atteindre l'immortalité. Formant une alliance, Dan et Abra s'engagent dans un combat de vie ou de mort contre Rose. L'innocence d'Abra et la façon dont elle utilise le Shining sans hésiter poussent Dan à utiliser ses pouvoirs comme jamais auparavant, faisant face à ses peurs et réveillant les fantômes du passé.

Notes et avis

Pleasantly surprised by how good and faithful this was to the shining. The biggest issue I have is that the shining didn't need a sequel - its a standalone genre defining film. The premiss of the group of protagonists is dark and conceptually brillant but the execution is poor and gets cheesy, main young actress overacts and a bit too woke for my liking but of course Ewan is holds it all together with a safe pair of hands.

Dare to go back to the overlook hotel I did and really enjoyed the movie, The Shining one of my favourite horror movie ever so was really excited that we was getting a 2nd chapter in the shining universe. Never read the book so had no idea what the plot was but it kept me hooked and keeps loyal to Stanley Kubrick's 1980 masterpiece.
