DOCTOR SLEEP DIRECTOR'S CUT features new and alternate/extended scenes not seen in theaters. DOCTOR SLEEP is the continuation of Danny Torrance’s story 40 years after the terrifying events of Stephen King’s The Shining. Still irrevocably scarred by the trauma he endured as a child at the Overlook, Dan Torrance has fought to find some semblance of peace. But that peace is shattered when he encounters Abra, a courageous teenager with her own powerful extrasensory gift, known as the “shine.” Instinctively recognizing that Dan shares her power, Abra has sought him out, desperate for his help against the merciless Rose the Hat and her followers, The True Knot. Forming an unlikely alliance, Dan and Abra engage in a brutal life-or-death battle with Rose. Any Stephen King adaptation is worth watching. But this is a strange combo of a Kuprik sequel based on a Stephen King original. Major disappointment if you read the book. Too many cuts and changes from the source material. Uncle dan, Billy and doc, changing Andi's age, zero mention of Silent Sarah. So much focus on the Overlook that the plot suffers.

Directors cut DR. Sleep was a good sequel, exploring the Shining and the trauma suffered by Danny. In order to get the full understanding of the films you need to watch The Shining first. After seeing both I think if both had been made as one mini series it would have been even better.

I do read the book before adding my opinion. In this case, is an exception because I read the words "40 yrs. ago" that is where I would start. Find the origanle maybe on line? What I read of the review was just a dinamic start. the thrill of the Chase. The few words in the beginning worked for me.
