Grace (Nicole Kidman), a beautiful fugitive on the run, hides in the isolated town of Dogville, where she goes to work in return for protection. But when the mob tracks her down, the town suddenly demands a better deal, and she learns the hard way that in Dogville, goodness is relative. But Grace has a secret and it is a dangerous one. Dogville may regret it ever began to bare its teeth.

Not liking this because it's an art movie as described by another review is as basic an opinion a layman can give, though it's far from being the typical movie regardless of intent or construction. Von Trier, love or hate him is one of a few filmmakers that experiment with the form and is a quality that should be demonstrated more often.

My favourite movie of all time. It defies convention and dares to be different. It is a truly engrossing tale with metaphoric and philological value. Like nothing I have seen before; wonderful!

It's a haunting film well more a play than a film but a fascinating view on human nature esp. the darker aspects.
