Based on the popular original video game, Doom: Annihilation is an explosive, terrifying thrill ride. On the darkest moon of Mars, scientists have found an ancient portal which allows teleportation throughout the universe. Considered to be mankind's greatest discovery, it's actually a gateway from hell, unleashing a swarm of demons looking to steal the souls of everyone who gets in their way. It's up to Lieutenant Joan Dark and an elite unit of Marines to destroy an ever-growing horde of bloodsucking and soul-stealing beasts and prevent them from taking over planet earth.

The main premise of the Doom games is pretty simple and subtle as a brick: Mars is invaded by demons from Hell, and one badass space Marine too cool and too tough to die is about to tear the legions of evil a new one. Cue heavy metal music and the racking of a shotgun. With a concept so simple that it's almost primal, it is astounding how we've arrived at two films based on this IP that not only seem to fail to grasp the tongue-in-cheek elements that made Doom the household name that took gaming and home computing by storm, but in Annihilation's case somehow made it boring as hell -- and incredibly cheap looking to boot, so much that it's makes the equally dumb but arguably more entertaining first Doom movie better in hindsight.

Could have been better. The only thing they got right from the DOOM games were Dr.Batruger, the Portal system to and from Hell, and maybe other things. I think what made people upset was they didnt bring in DOOM Guy and instead a Female character. Which I didn't think was horrible, but I think they still should've went with DOOM Guy as the main char. And her as a add in. The CGI could've been a little better. And the Monsters should've looked like from Doom 1, 2, or 3.

As someone that has played all the Doom games, this was actually a good Doom movie and better than the 2005 one. The only thing I have problems with is that the last 30 mins felt really rushed and the way the BFG fires is just... no. It's meant to be the most powerful weapon in the games that can destroy an entire room but it only hits one target in this movie🤦🏾‍♂️ I feel like if this movie should have been at least 20 mins longer but I hope we get a sequel to this movie
