Christine Brown (Alison Lohman) is on her way to having it all: a devoted boyfriend (Justin Long), a hard-earned job promotion, and a bright future. But when shes forced to make a tough decision that evicts an elderly woman from her house, Christine becomes the victim of an evil curse. Drag Me to Hell is about a women who is cursed by a gypsy. It's Sam Raimi's Evil Dead style horror meaning it has some comedy and quirky bits. The plot is kind of silly, and the acting is okay not academy award winning. I'd say this is just a rental, and that there's better horror rentals out there like Mama or Raimi's other works like the Evil Dead series.

I'd give it 2.5 as a horror/thriller film. It was moderately entertaining. The base characters are a tad trite. The plot is okay. It didn't feel like there were too many build up scenes. The special effects came off as too corny, because I don't think they meshed well with the real props and actors. The best effects, I think, were at the final scene.

Slickly produced with nice effects. Some of the actor's lines are so ridiculous and cliché that it looks like they have a hard time keeping a straight face. I found myself hoping that the lead character would take a more aggressive, offensive approach towards the evil force pursuing her. Meet it head on in a fierce warrior stance instead of running away, ineffectually slamming doors behind her and sacrificing innocent little kitty cats. She may have ended up getting dragged off anyway, but at least it would have demonstrated some real moxie...and who knows, maybe she could have cut some kind of a deal, or at least gotten an extension, which would have given her more time to find a real solution. How about a sequel showing the day to day life, the challenges, the ups and downs, the trials and tribulations of existence in her current locale? Call it "Where The Hell Am I?"
