2 and a half hours of the most boring drivel I've seen in a long time. Don't get me wrong, I love Sci Fi, but I like things actually happening. Instead, if you decide to watch Dune you'll get hours of people staring at each other while a shrill voice blares, trying to build suspense with characters that don't feel they're ever in anything suspenseful, for no payoff. During this Zendaya is inexplicably filming a perfume commercial.

This film is mostly set up for tge rest of the trilogy that is planned, it is a great film that sets the stage of the rest of the films which are already in production. This is by far one of the most ambitiously large films that plan on faithful recreation and on reading the book myself can see great care and detail has gone into shaping this film the way that fits with the book. Sure it has rushed things and mossed things out but they are details that can be addressed in later movies.

I remember reading the books in the 70s and I loved the universe that Frank Herbert created, alien but recognisable. This re-creation is brilliant and for me made the story much more understandable ( the politics of the Dune universe is complex). I could even explain it to my partner (who struggles with sci-fi). Love the story, love the vision, love the world that they've created and now I can't wait until Dune 2.
