They have taken a novel about politics, ecology, religion, love and economics and made a straight up war movie. Production values are high, cinematography is excellent, but Herbert's novel is somewhat missing. Esp. in part 2, this production elides the complexity and subtlety of the novel. Presentation of Chani and Stilgar is way off - are they going to hook up and run off to Jacurutu or ...? If you want a very kinetic Dune, this is your movie. Lynch was 1 star, SciFy got 5, so this gets 3.
