Nolan's bias is obvious in this piece. Conveniently forgetting that Germany - another Christian nation - did not want to wipe out other Christian brothers like England, France, etc. A decision issued by Hitler himself, but one that would ultimately led to Germany's defeat on the Western front. You won't find this fact in any western films nor in the one-sided "history" books written by the victors of World War 1 and 2.

If you are a WWII enthusiast, this movie is terrible It doesn't come close to capturing scale of Operation Dynamo nor does it capture the peril of those waiting to be rescued. Literally had like two civilian boats and a few scattered Royal Naval Vessels and a handful of RAF aircraft. Its beyond belief how terrible this is...... If you don't know the story....nor haven't seen any documentary footage of the scale of Operation Dynamo...then this is for you

Visceral, unromantic and unnerving, Nolan's vision of Dunkirk is a film of pieces and moments jarring together. It's bleak realism only allows myth to emerge at the very end. A film of bare characterisations and very little dialogue; the battle here is between not enemy and us, but courage versus survival.
