While audiences often take little notice of the editing in a movie, fans and filmmakers know it is the editor who determines the pace and rhythm of a motion picture and that intelligent montage is essential to every great movie. But editing is more than just assembling shots in a certain order, it's an art form enabling the architecture of film. Edge Codes celebrates and illustrates the evolution of editing through the history of cinema while exploring how it has come to shape our perceptions of the world around us.

Während das Publikum oft wenig Notiz davon nimmt, wie ein Film bearbeitet wird, wissen Fans und Filmemacher, dass es der Editor ist, der das Tempo und den Rhytmus eines Films bestimmt. Eine besonders gute ausgearbeitete Montage ist dabei besonders wichtig. Einen Film zu bearbeiten und durch eine Montage zusammenzufügen bedeutet aber weit mehr, als nur einzelne Bilder aneinanderzufügen.
