Tolkienin trilogian toisessa osassa Frodo Baggins and muut ritarit jatkavat pyhää pyrkimystään tuhota sormus - mutta eri teitä. Heidän kohtalonsa on kahden tornin käsissä. Toinen on Isengardin Orthancin torni, jossa korruptoitunut velho Saruman odottaa heitä, ja toinen Sauronin linnoitus Baraddurissa, syvällä Mordorin synkillä mailla.
