Worst adaptation of Emma I've ever seen. Random nudity, unlikeable portrayals of all the characters, terrible casting - just generally miserable. Miranda Hart as Miss Bates was the one bright spot, along with some of the costumes which were much more attractive than the people inside them.

Beautifully shot film with an interesting approach to the comedy and characters. Having clearly enjoyed the novel, Autumn de Wilde has brought a fresh interpretation to the table, much needed in the 100+ year history of Austen adaptations and the period drama genre as a whole. Though it's certainly not the definitive or last adaptation of Emma, it will be exciting to see future historical novel adaptations follow similar approaches. (tbf £16 is a bit of a ripoff for rental, wait for the DVD)

Amazing film and brings modern twists to the classic which is Emma. Unlike other adaptation of the novel, this Emma feels more like the novel character, she's not always likable and that's great. Anya Taylor-Joy is perfectly cast. So is Johnny Flynn, who brings a gruff masculine sexuality to the role. The supporting cast are excellent too. Bill Nighy is funny in every scene he's in, Miranda is perfect and Josh O'Connor is amazing. Must watch film for film fans and Jane Austen lovers alike.
