Based on the best-selling novel, "Ender's Game" is an epic adventure starring Harrison Ford, Asa Butterfield, Hailee Steinfeld, Ben Kingsley, Viola Davis and Abigail Breslin. In the near future, a hostile alien race called the Formics has attacked Earth. If not for the legendary heroics of International Fleet Commander Mazer Rackham (Ben Kingsley), all would have been lost. In preparation for the next attack, the highly esteemed Colonel Hyrum Graff (Harrison Ford) and the International Military are training only the best young minds to find the future Mazer. Ender Wiggin (Asa Butterfield), a shy but strategically brilliant boy, is recruited to join the elite. Arriving at Battle School, Ender quickly and easily masters increasingly difficult challenges and simulations, distinguishing himself and winning respect amongst his peers. Ender is soon ordained by Graff as the military's next great hope, resulting in his promotion to Command School. Once there, he's trained by Mazer Rackham himself to lead his fellow soldiers into an epic battle that will determine the future of Earth and save the human race.

I read Ender's game book and is true they changed a lot of things and omitted a lot of other elements that made the book so awesome. Personally I think the movie is a good adaptation and tells the story of Ender under a different light of what the viewer will expect. For a movie it will be imposible to project all the sentiments and thoughts that go through Ender during his time at Battle School and the time lapses in between. I believe the producers focused on certain aspects of the book and try to communicate those things to their audience and I feel they succeeded in that task. The movie is great if you consider how hard of a task is to create a movie of such a book. There isn't enough time.

Saw this movie a year ago, what stood out to me then and now was a very lack luster performance by Harrison Ford for which it seems they were leaning on his star power to sell this film. They should have ditched him and hired more supporting actors, extras, sound effects, etc to better tell the story. Harrison Ford looked bored/annoyed that he was in the film as if his agent made him do it, and there was no ambiance at times, both of which was very distracting. Skip this movie, stick to the books.

CGI was better than average. Major problem with main character's logic at the end b/c of the producers liberal ideology. Per storyline: Earth was attacked to force colonization. No attempt to communicate with the enemy so "Ender" feels remorseful for killing all. Unrealistic as commmunication is always the 1st choice. Plus, you shouldn't feel remorseful b/c you were forced by another into only one option, they die or you die. Remorse should be for the opponent's actions & their original aggression.
