To be fair, this was a dense and technical book to adapt. How ever, even with an uphill battle, they absolutely defecated themselves to failure. There was no fun, all way too serious, all the emotional beats they tried for were not earned and did not land. Nothing about this worked. Just go re-read the book. Save your 3.99$ to rent or your 15$ a month subscribing to HBO Max.

They really just absolutely ruined the story. The acting is subpar and the whole development of the characters is rushed. So much of the nuance that made the book so great is lost here. Just a really bad version of the story.

Liked the soundtrack more than the movie, which says that the books were better. Compromise is unavoidable when adaptation of 2D media in a feature film is the goal. But this, was appallingly produced.
