Acerca deste filme

Jake Gyllenhaal reteams with PRISONERS director Denis Villeneuve in this sexy and mind bending thriller. Adam Bell is a glum professor who has grown disinterested by his ordinary life. When Adam discovers a man who appears to be his double, the identical men meet and their lives become bizarrely and hauntingly intertwined. Gyllenhaal is transfixing playing both roles, journeying through a world both familiar and strange. The film's final and unnerving image will not be soon forgotten by audiences. In the end, only one man can survive. Featuring bonus interview explaining the mystery.

My wife and I were looking to watch a movie last night and as Gyllenhaal fans we were going to give Demolition a chance. Upon looking at the movie another Gyllenhaal fan pointed me in the direction of Enemy. Reading Google's quick synopsis I saw from the director of Prisoners and "psychological thriller" and I was hooked. Upon starting the movie it was clear that this wasn't going to be a movie for everyone. Filled with metaphors you have to think more critically than sit back and enjoy the ride. Truthfully I wasn't keyed up for that and missed quite a bit as I was a tad distracted and I missed a lot I wouldn't otherwise. Overall I think it was a good movie but the plot is more short story than a novel and spends more time allowing you to reflect on the characters and figure out what is going on than progress the story.

NO SPOILERS. Very smart, clever, and artistic. There is an eeriness that sets a much more dramatic tone than the premise calls for, and i feel that makes this film so much better. To be fair, most aren't going to get it the first time. It's very, as they say, "cerebral", and I had to watch it twice to figure it out. This film uses imagery as much as dialogue to further the plot AND inform the viewer. The ending is particularly puzzling, and I haven't seen a well defined overview of the movie that really explains it as I feel it was meant to be; Pay attention to proximity of the spiders to the anti-hero throughout and their behavior and compare to that of the last spider

Although there's some cool visuals and slightly interesting symbolism, not to mention really good acting, this movie isn't as good as people might say. Once you get past the spider symbolism and see the actual plot, there's not as much to get out of it. The movie spends so much time trying to come across bizzare if you don't understand it that it fails to do anything interesting to the plot it's actually presenting. It's good if you want to feel smart for figuring it out I guess.
