About this movie

In a mythical time, a teenage boy becomes a dragon rider with the help of a wise old man, and with his newly-hatched dragon, avenges the murder of his uncle, rescues a beautiful warrior, and battles a tyrannical king.

Ok. The good things: the special effect and saphira(the Dragon) The bad things. How much it unnecessarily differs from the amazing book and just other stupid things. For example arya's hair is the wrong colour and appaerntly the budget didnt extend to make the elf's ears pointed. Small things I know but they do add up. To summarise: good film if you haven't read the book. Rubbish film if you have.

I saw this before I read the book. After reading 1 chapter I was hocked far more than the film did in 10 minutes. The use of magic is good but he doesn't learn a lot of words and suddenly he's command of it is better than anything. The events in the film all happen in what feels like a week. The book months. The only thing they got right was the Shade 100% right, the king was wrong and caused the rest to suffer. Peter Jackson please give this a go and do better.

They shouldn't have named this film after the book as it is only loosely based on it. They messed with the storyline so much so that it would be impossible to make the rest of the books into films. Only 3 decent actors in this film and they are mostly the bad guys. The CGI isn't bad but that's pretty much the only decent part. In my opinion I have given it a very generous rating. Wouldn't say it was worth a watch.
