Though docufiction, this is a bold and brave film with "real" people, friends of the main character, with only one professional actor. The main actress, Gay Walley, is also the screenwriter and our author, Jacqueline Gay Walley of the 6 novel collection Venus as She Ages (October 2021). Much of the alternatively witty, alternatively searing writing within the film is derived from the protagonist and narrator, Mira, from these novels as the writer "aged." Once again, Walley, as well as the director Frank Vitale, creatively and alternatively push form and style within cinema as they explore the female psyche and the dilemma of her engagement without losing her juice, without losing the Self. ---I. I come to this film as one who has entered “the autumn of the year.” And I was delighted to find this time of life which I have come to cherish explored so attentively in this forthright, poignant film. In the midst of a world which denies its fear of death in its worship of youth, this story affirms that what lives within us— above all, our capacity for, and the possibility of discovering, love— is timeless. I hope that Mira gets all the love she's been longing and fighting for.

A propos of the review saying we are "ugly old people," I too wish we were young and beautiful, but this film is for those of us who are older and who still believe in love. There is beauty in ways people come together. Beauty in keeping love going. It doesn't end. This film shows the humor and adventure of that. I can see why a young person might not want to witness older people in a film, as a reviewer right. That is his prerogative. Personally i find comic book films boring but, one thing about being older, you don't feel the need to put people who are different from you down. I write this to honor my fellow performers and myself in the film.
