Honestly the film had a lot of interesting parts. It had some things that could've been scary but it just didn't quite have the same mood as the original. But its not a bad film; minus some lack of acting abilities it was good. When I read a negative review I feel its because this film wasn't scary enough or like the original.

Not scary. CGI looks like it came from a SYFY channel made movie. Very unrealistic graphics, and no sense of any horror atmosphere what so ever.

Between this film and Dominion, this film felt like a true prequel to The Exorcist. Harlin may have went for too much "shock horror", but you cannot deny the connections this film makes with the original film. I think that if you watch this first and then The Exorcist, you will see how this film is better than most people give it.
