Lizzie (Radha Mitchell of Silent Hill, Olympus Has Fallen, Man on Fire) longs to start a family with her husband Peter but after several failed attempts with IVF treatment, is unable to conceive. Her best friend Andie (Michelle Monaghan of Source Code, Due Date, Gone Baby Gone), a foul-mouthed free spirit who lives for the moment, gets pregnant from a one-night stand and doesn't think twice about offering the baby to Lizzie to adopt. Reluctantly, Peter agrees to be the child's father, and before he knows it Andie has moved into the guest room for the duration of her pregnancy! When Peter's brother (fresh out of rehab) also moves into the house chaos ensues, testing the limits of friendship, family and a marriage. With an effortlessly graceful lead pairing, Expecting is a quirky and unique balance between heartfelt drama and natural comedy telling the story of best friends and dysfunctional families.
