Fantastic Mr. Fox may be a fun charming animated film with the intelligence of a fox, but it's not really a fantastic movie. The movie does have a laid-back, calm, mature feel in it's structure (which adults believed that it's fun to watch and it is), but that makes the entertainment value not live up to it's full potential, not to mention that as a children's film, this film would probably get half the population of the children bored. There are some clever funny moments, but other moments of comedy is not sharp enough to get almost any laugh, and when the movie's narrative gets to the third act, the movie has totally forgotten that it was supposed to be a comedy. The plotting for the screenplay makes this film fun to watch and director "Wes Anderson" is a master at doing at doing that. From George Clooney who voiced the clever and attractive Mr. Fox to Michael Gambon who voiced the vengeful and thuggish Franklin Bean, The voice cast is absolutely wonderful and the voice acting delivers such a realistic approach to an animated movie. The stop motion animation is on par with The Nightmare Before Christmas and the character designs really reflects on how the characters behaved. Every time the title of the scene that was going to play pops up, it makes this whole plot very engaging and clever enough to keep being interesting. The music score by Alexandre Desplat is really interesting and very unique, because he has a different approach on the instrumentation instead of going for the usual traditional orchestral sound. This film is one of those movies that don't have an orchestral sound. The music for this film is whimsical, fun, colorful, and has such a great setup for the entire movie. The film has a positive message: What you think you are is not always what you are. Don't deny your true nature. For recommendation, this film is truly recommended to be worth a solid rental.

Delightfully weird, just how I like it. However, although I do believe it's good to expose kids to scary things to help them learn to overcome their fears, I probably wouldn't show this to any kid under ~7. I remember seeing this as a kid, and it was really scary to me. Something about the stop motion animation combined with the grim story really struck a chord with me. Nonetheless, it's surprisingly enjoyable for teens and older. It offers strangely realistic characters, that KNOW they're animals, brought to life by spectacular voice acting. The whole thing is tied together with a beautifully melancholy ending. All in all, this is absolutely a film everyone should see at some point.

Grand Entertainment for all Ages! Lists in my top 20 of all time favorite and its hard pressed to be bounced out by another. My list was started over 50 years ago. The Voices were over the top for a cartoon, not the same old, same old. Like to see all the people involved do another kids (of any age) book or three. Mic Pete Cl;-)~ Ririe, Idaho USA 🇺🇸
