Told with brutal honesty, Farming is an unflinching autobiographical portrait of a young man who must battle the odds and realize that, in a world of hate, his toughest battle will be learning to love himself.

When I rented this movie I had not made the connection of whose life this was about. At the end when I saw his picture, the tears already falling down my face, came harder. I have seen him in so many things including one of my favorite shows, OZ from HBO. So many times during the movie, me heart just hurt, thinking of all the tragic moments he endured. When I watched him try to wash the black off his skin, I felt my breath catch. What an awful thing for a child to think, if only I can get this color off, someone will love me. Heartbreaking. I am so grateful this is a time in history I did not have to witness. This movie seldom made me laugh but it definitely reached my heart.
