Winning two awards at the 1974 Cannes Film Festival, Fear Eats the Soul soon delighted audiences all over the world, with its tale of romance and racial prejudice in present-day Munich. Emmi, a widowed cleaning lady in her sixties, meets Ali, a Moroccan immigrant in his thirties. Seeking companionship, the pair marry to the outrage of Emmi’s family, her friends and colleagues.
