Some of the greatest lines in movie history are in this film...infinitely quotable, and just insane sequence after insane sequence. A (somewhat) true story about one of the craziest trips 2 men could ever take to Las Vegas, while also being a commentary on how "The American Dream" is essentially the death-rattle of the 60's peace movement, presented in Terry Gilliam's signature visual style. Underrated, amazing performances from Depp and Del Toro, and quite brilliant overall.

Hard to understand unless you are currently under the influence of, or at least have experience with psychotropic drugs. Once it is understood this movie is without a doubt one of the greatest depictions of Hunter s. Thomson and the time period in general. It is a downright insane, psychedelic portrayal of the American dream. This delusional work of art is a cult classic that deserves a much higher rating than what it was given.

Thompson at his very best. The evolution of GONZO Journalism. He was the greatest American writer since Hemingway and on of my all time heroes. The world is a far darker and scarier place without Hunter in it to expose the depravity and decadence that is the mainstay of this movie. A must see for any true fan of the good doctor.ay rest in peace.
