The film accurately paralells the bipolarity of drug use. Moving swiftly from hilarity to an uncomfortable anxiety. The oddity of Gilliams films is certainly unique and if anyone was going to transfer Thompson's words to the big screen he is the best man for the job. If you like this try watching some of his other films, Brazil perhaps.

You'd be well advised to read the original book and read up on Hunter S. Thompson before watching the film adaptation of Fear and Loathing. But given how tricky the film must have been to script, it does capture both the dark and the amusing sides of the original, and is very quotable. As your lawyer, I advise you to watch this film.

The book is a classic, impossible to make into a film (I thought) but this makes an excellent go at it. Drugs and wild times in Las Vegas. A really good film
