I have read the book and I think the movie was completely missed what the Author made it so much more captivating through the inner thoughts of Ana, throughout the movie. Especially her references to her subconscious which the director of the movie completely overlooked. This movie should have been made like Bridget Jones diary, and a comedy. The book is hilarious, but the movie writers have turned it into something dark and sinister, plus the character of Christian Grey in the book is that of a ripped, tall muscular Adonis. The actor playing him in the movie is a mere whisper of this. Not an accurate remake at all.

So this film attempts to show case what it's like within the bdsm community, with all the trimmings, but falls at every hurdle. Quite fitting as it started off life as a twilight fan fiction. I would say "still a better love story then twilight" but I can't bring myself to lie. Terrible book about abuse made into terrible film. If your interested in kink, 50SoG isn't the way you should learn about it.

This was unbelievably triggering. It does not portray a healthy BDSM relationship, but an abusive, controlling and violent one. I wish I could give minus stars for this. Please do not support this by buying into it. It's heartbreaking to see so many young girls and boys now aspiring to copy the characters in this film+book.
