Every year for the last half century, young girls and boys try out for the chance to appear onstage in what has become a crown jewel of performing arts: the annual professional performance of The Nutcracker at BalletMet in Columbus, Ohio. BalletMet is giving us, for the first time, exclusive and uninhibited access behind the scenes of this premier troupe to follow four girls through the journey of becoming Clara, the leading girl. We’ll follow Alaina, Molly, Lauren Grace and Isabelle through audition, rehearsals, and learning they will each play the iconic role during the season. Then, we’ll be the first to reveal behind the curtain, seeing the over 200 performers and crew, behind the stage and on, for of the most revered performances in the arts: The Nutcracker.
