Academy Award-winner Joan Crawford ("Mildred Pierce," "What EverHappened to Baby Jane?") stars as a dancer in a traveling circus. Stranded in a corrupt Southern town, she becomes involved with two men, a weakling who betrays her and a corrupt political boss. She is eventually framed for murder by a crooked sheriff, played by Oscar-nominee Sydney Greenstreet ("Casablanca," "The Maltese Falcon").
