Featuring an all-star cast and a much-celebrated soundtrack by Queen, this is the original and best version of the sci-fi classic Flash Gordon, based on the comic books by Alex Raymond and Don Moore. Now you can enjoy this gloriously camp version in lurid Technicolor. Flash (Sam J Jones) is a football hero skyjacked aboard Dr Zarkov’s (Topol) spaceship along with the beautiful Dale Arden (Melody Anderson). The threesome is drawn into the influence of the planet Mongo where they encounter Ming the Merciless (Max Von Sydow) and together must foil his plot to destroy Earth.

Ratings and reviews

Glamourous, glitzy, camp, excessive, fun fun fun, music by Queen! So LGBTQ+ for 1980 it amazes, costumes to die for, stage sets to gawp at and wonder. Enthralling! 5 star actors whom you would never have thought would ever do such thing and quotes a go go, in jokes, multi cultural references, totally amazing. Flash Gordon sure is the saviour of my universe.

I love this film. I don't care about the visual effects, or the acting, or the sets, or the costumes, this is modern B-movie heaven. Only Queen could score this wonderful tribute to the 50s genre. Possibly one of my favourite films of all time.

Agree with what other people have said. I'll give it 5* for the film, but Google need to sort out the licensing so we can have a buy option.
