About this movie

Based on the incredible true story Meryl Streep delivers a hilarious and touching performance as a New York socialite who dreams of becoming a great opera singer. While the voice she hears in her head is beautiful to everyone else it is hilariously awful. Her husband and biggest fan St. Clair Bayfield (Hugh Grant) is determined to protect his beloved Florence from the truth. But when Florence stages a huge concert at Carnegie Hall he faces his greatest challenge to make sure her performance hits all the right notes.

There is a scene where a 3000 strong concert audience doesn't know whether the thing they are watching is meant to be comedy or drama, satire or serious. That sums up the film audience reaction too: none of the characters are likeable or deep enough to care about, and the film is mostly just as awkward and dull to watch as its subject was in real life.

Greatly disapointing. Even Hugh Grant's dry Wit couldn't save this abysmal failure. The single bright spot I found was Cosme, her pianist. I truly felt his pain. Lol!

It was not a very funny movie, but a great period romance piece. With wonderful acting by Grant & Streep & the actor who played Mr. Moon (Pianist) I really felt the love between Grant & Streep's characters, only part/s I disliked was the scenes with Grant's character and his * it made me dislike his character a little bit each time. Def one I will re-watch multiple times over. Sad ending, though.
