In this fast-paced potboiler, Barbara Stanwyck stars as a staid librarian who falls in love with district attorney Adolph Manjou. The two have an affair though Menjou is married. Stanwyck has a daughter and the child is adopted by Menjou, while Stanwyck gets a job working Ralph Bellamy.
