About this movie

When wealthy John du Pont (Steve Carell) invites Olympic wrestler Mark Schultz (Channing Tatum) to move to his estate and help form a wrestling team for the 1988 Seoul Olympics, Mark sees a way to step out of the shadow of his charismatic and revered brother, Dave (Mark Ruffalo) and instantly accepts his offer. However, du Pont begins to lead Mark down a dark path while becoming fxated on recruiting Dave to ‘Team Foxcatcher’. As tensions and paranoia run high through their constant power-struggles and the pursuit of victory, all three men are propelled towards an unforeseen event that will change their lives forever. Incredible piece of movie making featuring a fantastic cast and an endearing true story. Seeing Carell thrown totally out of his comfort zone and in his first real serious role is worth seeing the movie alone. John du Pont is clearly a disturbed, uneasy character and Carell makes the transition from comedy to this almost predator like character perfectly. Ruffalo is fantastic and I was never a huge fan of Tatum either but he takes this role and runs (or wrestles) with it. Brilliant stuff.

Very much a slow burner, that doesn't speed up. Based in a true story, its acted very well, but it's so slow that it becomes annoying and frustrating to watch, desperate for something exciting to happen, it just doesn't come.

Hard to tell whether the movie is good or not, as they sounds makes it impossible to hear what they're saying. Slow.
