About this movie

Ryan Reynolds stars in this action-packed comedy as a mild-mannered bank teller named Guy, who learns he's really a background character in an open-world video game. Every day, Guy is under assault by players and objects within the game, where he's robbed, hit by cars, and otherwise mistreated as a "non-playing character" (NPC). To make matters worse, the game's owner has decided to end the game. Teaming with a woman (Jodie Comer) who's both a human and a character in the game, Guy decides to become the hero of his own story. Now, in a world where there are no limits, he is determined to be the guy who saves his world his way before it's too late. Directed by Shawn Levy, and written by Matt Lieberman and Zak Penn based on Lieberman's story, the fast-paced, hilarious FREE GUY also stars Taika Waititi, Lil Rel Howery and Joe Keery.

This movie is awful. It has no basis in reality. I don't mean the self aware NPC thing either. If you sell someone code, you don't get to demand payment based on whether they use it or not. This movie is written by people who only know gaming thru memes. There's even wokeisms awkwardly sprinkled in to make you cringe. Seriously, do people think online multi-player games run on one server that never reboots????

Had to inject a bunch of woke ideology and anti gun talk. Yeah maybe 20% of the the target audience is actually liberal nazis that agree with you. The rest overlook this garbage because it's forced in every show and movie now. Could have been a decent movie, like most made in today's age that feel they need to force their ideologies down everyone's throat. This is suppose to be entertainment, that a podium to spread your ignorant beliefs.

I was bored when I rented it, and was bored when I watched it. If you have the ability to 100% shut off your brain for two hours, or you're 12, you might enjoy it, but I don't have that ability. None of this movie makes any sense to the point where I don't think the writers have ever seen a video game. Really unfunny, phoned in acting, horrible writing. I guess the graphics were fine, and it's hard to dislike Ryan Reynolds.
