French Connection II is one of those examples of a sequel that's better than the original. There's more action and violence and it's darker than the original aswell and Gene Hackman is just as crazy and better. We don't see Roy Scheider but we see Fernando Rey returning as the villain and we see Popeye Doyle (Hackman) close to death after being pumped with drugs. I must say more enjoyable than the original French Connection film and certainly more violence aswell. Great film and my favourite.

Gritty and realistic. Wonderful cast and brilliantly scripted. An all time favourite. Mr Friedkin was at the height of his powers.
