Maxine Peake (Dinnerladies, Black Mirror) stars as the Funny Cow, a female comedienne who rises to stardom on the male-dominated stand-up comedy circuit of the North of England in the 1970s and 80s. From her troubled childhood to her turbulent adult relationships, the Funny Cow uses the raw material of her life experiences to bring her unique style of comedy to the stage. Featuring performances from some of Britain’s comedy heroes, including John Bishop and Vic Reeves, Funny Cow is a prescient story of one woman’s determination to have her voice heard.
