Über diesen Film

Approaching a community filled with so many rumors and misconceptions is no easy task. Fursonas director Dominic Rodriguez is not without his own biases, but instead of attempting to deny this fact, he faces it head on, unafraid to be shot down by his subjects. Fursonas is a whistleblower film that oscillates between the fantastic and the unusual, with moments of awe and wonder slapped against harsh reality. The audience can delight in infiltrating the fun and sometimes-dark secrets of an escapist group. Whether or not you’ve heard of furry fandom, this documentary transcends its bizarre premise to tell a universal story of identity and community. Like a small town in Middle America, you’ll find friends in the most unusual places and unexpected enemies around every corner. Unlike a small town in Middle America, you’ll find furries.

I think this was a pretty good documentary, However, I'm only giving this 2 stars because there is somethings you should know before you watch this. The beginning of the documentary was pretty perfect. From the middle towards the end, I feel there was a large bias against Kage and his supporters from the filmmaker and some of the people featured in the film I feel kind of put the director in his place. Kage is not a bad person. He doesn't want to insult others, he is trying to protect the convention scene more than anything, because if word gets out fursuiters just like to have sex in their fursuits, the public wouldn't be as involved in the furry conventions. Bandit makes a great point on that towards the end. Kage does tend to speak his mind, maybe not in the nicest way, but he does tell the truth if you get behind the language. Dom seemed to take footage from Kage's winestream and try and use it as if that was good material. It's meant to be kind of a venting ground for him. Listen to Diezel and Bandit. (and Kato at the end) They speak the actual truth behind what Kage says. Diezel and Bandit are the most realistic of them all, and Dom didn't like that, you can tell.

Really well done, worth the money. Explains what furries are well for non furs and raises all the right questions for furs. Maybe we shouldn't be taking the piss out of the particularly weird yet harmless people in our ranks. I could name a few in the UK alone furries have been guilty of this because they have bad suits or whatever. It's mob mentality and it's awful! The kage stuff, '...notice I didn't deny it' is both admitting it right there to people who search for furry these days and making us look like we've got a cult leader who tells us how to think. I think he can be funny and communicates well most times, and I like his talks for furry etiquette when it comes to keeping clean and fed, making sure everyone's safe. The director had his own agenda but I liked that. There was one point he was a little too gleeful about getting some damning evidence, but that doesn't cancel out the fact that Uncle Kage said those things in public. I liked Varka in it too haha. Really glad this film exists and I'll watch it again!

If you ask ten furries what the furry community is all about, you'll get at least a dozen answers. That being said, while this documentary didn't even touch upon the hundreds of thousands of dollars the community raises for charity each year, it does provide an interesting and varied look at what it means to a number of individuals.
