About this movie

For four years, the courageous crew of the NSEA protector - "Commander Peter Quincy Taggart" (Tim Allen), "Lt. Tawny Madison" (Sigourney Weaver) and "Dr.Lazarus" (Alan Rickman) - set off on a thrilling and often dangerous mission in space...and then their series was cancelled! Now, twenty years later, aliens under attack have mistaken the Galaxy Quest television transmissions for "historical documents" and beam up the crew of has-been actors to save the universe. With no script, no director and no clue, the actors must turn in the performances of their lives.

Cult classic (it wasn't a blockbuster at the box office, but gained considerable attention on home video, on its own merits and at the recommendation of actual Star Trek cast/crew members) sci-fi 'spoof' that wears a genuine affection for the source material on its sleeve. I'd honestly recommend it to anyone who enjoys movies or wants a laugh, but Star Trek fans and fans of SF in general in particular will love this.

Sounds like total crap on paper, but in execution it's actually an incredibly clever, sweet film that's as much about being a fan as it is being a starship captain. Great cast, too. Well worth a look.

As a long time Trek fan this was great tounge in cheek fun. Sigourney Weaver playing the bimbo blonde coms officer instead of my fave action hero Ripley was the winning bonus.
