The acting is first rate. The performances of Dicaprio and Lewis are powerful. Daniel Day-Lewis was a good choice for Bill the Butcher. But where the story line really shines is in it's presentation of the city. It provides great insight into the beginnings of New York City. The big fight scene in the beginning of the movie did not actually happen with the REAL Bill the Butcher. (Bill Poole) He died about ten years before that infamous event took place. A fantastic movie nonetheless...A+

This movie made me fall in love with DDL and Leo shines as well. It contains excellent dialogue, action, and suspense. This movie takes you back to the early days of New York when gangsters still had morals and honor. I would recommend this film to everyone. In fact I'm going to watch it right now.

Movie is Great DDL at his best... However, Google Play is the worst of all the Movie Redemption Sites...anytime you purchase a physical copy of a film and its loaded with extra's...google play doesnt give you access to those extras. Vudu gives you all the bonus features...sadly I couldnt redeem on Vudu
