A young couple, Jim and Julie, are vacationing in Thailand where Julie falls in love with photographing small shrines called “Ghost Houses” that are believed to give spirits shelter and comfort. A couple of British travelers take them into the countryside with the promise of showing Jim and Julie a ghost house graveyard where many of the shrines are discarded. After leaving the graveyard with a souvenir, Julie is increasingly plagued by visits from a malevolent spirit that threatens both her sanity and her life. After Julie is literally frozen in a state of terror, Jim must find a way to lift the curse before he loses Julie to the ghost world forever.

Atmospheric I was pleasantly surprised by Ghost House! The plot was not as formulaic as I assumed. The cinematography and acting were above par. There were plenty of jump scares! Also, the antagonist was sufficiently creepy and diabolical. I believe that the ending incorporated the story well.

Was pretty disappointed based on other users reviews I thought it would be much better. Didn't think it was good at all.

Despite the negative reviews, I'm glad that I gave this movie a shot. Everything from the cinematography, to the story, to the acting was really well done! This reminded me of those Japanese horror films that are miles better than the American remakes, for some reason. The atmosphere and the vibe the movie gave off, I can't really explain it, but it's rare. I don't really like horror movies these days, especially anything from Hollywood, so when this came out on Netflix, I was skeptical because of the reviews. Great movie! Now, I'm not going to say it's the best movie I've ever seen, no. It's definitely not, but it's really great for what it is. I'm also a fan of Scout Taylor-Compton ever since she did amazing in her role as Lori Strode on Halloween 2, so I was excited to see her in something else.
