영화 정보

A film that has spawned a thousand imitations but never been bettered -- Mamoru Oshii's legendary anime film Ghost in the Shell returns in a stunning new edition remastered by Oshii himself. For this definitive Version 2.0 release, all the original animations are re-produced with latest digital film and animation technologies, including 3D-CGI. Set in a re-imagined Hong Kong at a time when cyberspace is expanding into human reality, the story follows top cyberwarrior Major Motoko Kusanagi as she hovers on the border of total immersion in the digital world.

As someone who started with Stand Alone Complex, I felt that the Puppetmaster storyline was a lot less fleshed out in comparison, but that does not make the film at all bad. The film relies very heavily on showing the mechanics of the world, with the investigation scenes secondary to that end. I would have given it a lower rating had I watched it first, because stand alone it isn't satisfying, but viewed as a complement to the TV series, it can be very satisfying.

This is the 2008 re-release of the 1995 movie Ghost in the Shell. It follows the "Puppet Master" story line from the manga series. This version has had some George Lucas styled changes made, with CGI used to update/replace some of the hand drawn animation. It also has updated audio. Skip 2.0 and watch the original version instead.

Remember when this appeared on my radar. At Uni, a mate with whom I DJed (Real DJ. Not Button-Pushing) turned me on to this brilliant masterpiece. The story, music, visuals and characters blend into a sublime work of art and bred further works of art. SAC and 2nd Gig come to mind, but the influence on newer films and series continues. I've not watched the Live-Action film and will get to it, but I highly recommend those watch this multiple times, like the series, esp. 2nd Gig, as most of the dialogue, stretches across Philosophy, IR, Military Science, History, Ethics, Logic, Reason, Social Psychology and gently drops subtle references to Litterateur and storylines incredibly synch with Current Events (yes. Even modern), all to a sick soundtrack. This is a gem. Don't get it? Read a damn book or two! Respect to Master Oshii. Thank you, Sir.
