The year is 2030 and a war continues to rage on between refugees and the increasing hostile national population. Tensions bubble to the surface as terrorist attacks by the splinter group Individual Eleven wreak havoc on an already fragile Tokyo. We discover that the seemingly random acts of violence are actually a campaign with the most sinister of objectives. With a sadistic intent of mass destruction, will they triumph in victory or discover the gloomy pitfalls of defeat?

This is a 2006 OVA movie that is a distilled edit of Ghost in the Shell: S.A.C. 2nd GIG TV series. It takes place in the year 2032, two years after GitS: SAC. It features a different "Individual Eleven" story than the TV series, primarily highlighting character relationships differently. It reuses the TV series' animation. It also has some additional animation and dialogue to facilitate the modified story. The OVA movie is worth watching in addition to the series.

1st thing you should do is watch season 2 of this series. All of the episodes are outstanding in my opinion. Anyway this is a condensed retelling of the Individual Eleven saga. Some of the cuts made to the story didn't make that much sense to me. But overall the condensed version of the story works fine. One thing that really threw me off was not only are the voice actors different from the TV series but their acting left a lot to be desired in my opinion. Were the TV actors bring the differing emotions to each character these guys sounded like they were just reading a script. If you have watched the 1st or even the 2nd season you know what I am talking about. This could have been a spectacular albeit long movie but alas that wasn't meant to be. Do yourself a favor and check out season 2, you will not be disappointed.

While this movie effectively condenses Season One by cutting out most if not all of the "STAND ALONE" episodes it keeps the overall thread the ran throught the series whole which can skew some plot points that happen in those episodes. Many of the original Voices do not return, Alison Matthews does a Adequate job, but you'll miss the subtle inflection and emotive voice Mary McGlynn gives the Major.
