Acerca de esta película

Scarlett Johansson stars in the visually stunning Ghost in the Shell, an action-packed adventure set in a future world where people are enhanced with technology. Believing she was rescued from near death, Major (Johansson) becomes the first of her kind: a human mind inside an artificial body designed to fight the war against cyber-crime. While investigating a dangerous criminal, Major makes a shocking discovery – the corporation that created her lied about her past life in order to control her. Unsure what to believe, Major will stop at nothing to unravel the mystery of her true identity and exact revenge against the corporation she was built to serve.

The effects were neat enough but if you were looking for any of the themes from the manga or anime you won't find them. Johansson's performance wasn't horrible but strangely the 20 year old animation felt more real and life like. This movie really didn't bring any new ideas or concepts to the table other than a generic stolen identity plot that didn't go anywhere. Watch the original, don't bother with this.

This movie seems to portray the main character (Motoko / The Major) in just the same manner as the anime. She may be a synthetic, but in the manga she showed emotions and facial expressions. However, just like the anime, Johansson's portrayal has the same doll-like expression. Literally copying Mamuro Oshii's interpretation of Shirow Masamune's creation. I had high hopes to see something different this time but it was another director's interpretation of a fantastical universe.

Decent story. Reasonable acting. Ok action. Mindbogglingly terrible special effects. they should not have made this until they had the budget they needed. the old anime looks more real then the big CGI scenes in this film. Not even close to worth what they charge to see it here and definitely not worth the HD or the UHD prices. Cool 3D but you can't get that here. p.s. I love the original anime and even the sequel anime, the show was very good as well so I am a fan but this still just did not work.
