Melissa McCarthy carried a bullheaded slapstick routine commonly found in crappy spoof movies you only want to watch once. The over eager mochory of intelligent people and cartoon rejected jokes left me feeling that I was punk'd. Kate McKinnon somehow gave enough from her nearly silent roll to justify a second star for this rating. Its sad that crap acting and lude humor given by McCarthy is what Hollywood chose to give us. Watch it, there is a story in there somewhere... In the back of the bad jokes...

It felt like they took what was loved about the original movie the cartoon series and the comic books. Mashed them together and tried using them in a new way. Could of been great but I feel they tried to hard to make it it's own original thing. You can't ride a franchise so hard and be your own original movie at the same time. Now Im not the kind of person to deter someone from a movie. I'd suggest rent it first. It wasn't my cup of tea but maybe it will be yours.

i'm not going to get into the all female cast. i'll focus on the plot, effects, and script. the CGI ghosts were bland, boring, uninspiring, and just horrible. Scooby-Do: Monsters unleashed had the same styled ghosts, and that was many years ago. Haunted Mansion had the same stylized ghosts. thumbs down on the cgi ghosts. the plot, formulaic at best. The script, how many times do you need to tell a soup joke, use the exorcism cliche, stereotyping of black women, have melissa do the same thing as she does in all her other movies a parody of her self. i mean it was a nightmare to watch this and not feel sorry for the crew that made this abortion happen.
