Acerca desta película

Winner of three Academy Awards®, Glory tells the story of the Union Army's first black fighting unit in the American Civil War. The 54th Regiment of Massachusetts Volunteer Infantry was made up of black soldiers-some Northern freemen, some escaped slaves-and led by whites, including Robert Gould Shaw (Matthew Broderick), the son of Boston abolitionists. The unit faced virulent racism, not only from their Southern adversaries but from Northern whites who resisted arming black soldiers and doubted their ability to fight effectively. But in the bloody attack on Fort Wagner in Charleston, South Carolina, the members of the 54th distinguished themselves in an almost suicidal battle. Their heroic actions helped throw open the gates of the Union Army to 180,000 blacks who risked their lives for emancipation and citizenship, and may have helped turn the tide of the war. © 1989 TriStar Pictures, Inc. Very nice movie about the civil war in America. Engaging and emotive story line, which as far as I can tell, was at least somewhat based on real life events as documented by a series of letters. Astounding courage shown through the characters. Real men not shying away from battle. Standing up for themselves and each other. Bravery and honour were strong themes throughout. Men fought and died over what they believed in. Very encouraging, and just goes to show that men are born with a battle to fight inside of them. Excellent movie! Five stars from me for Glory

I cried, laughed, and cheered alongside the excellent cast, whom brought to life the men who came together to form the first black regiment. Their heroic fight wasn't just contained to the battlefields, they fought racism from both sides. Misunderstanding from the white officers, Certain death if taken prisoner, and helped turn the tide of the civil war. Yes, a little slow at times, however, the rousing musical score, helps mark this movie as one of best, even the small inaccuracies can be forgiven, as the storyline carries you forward.

A good war film that tries to handle the injustice of slavery, perhaps at the expense of achieving a better film! Is it entertainment, a history lesson or moral treaties?
