this is a film, I was surprised to see, especially in a time where we rely on CGI to much at times, did not use enough CGI on a large enough scale! We get to see glimpses of the monsters and destruction. What we do get to see is visually pleasing but to put into context it is either happening in the distance, viewed through small openings or at night. Then the story line just felt like a mediocre video game. Disappointed to say the very least!

Was really, really looking forward to this - missed it in the cinema. Ended up seriously disappointed - sat through it thinking it would improve at some point. If you are expecting to see much of Godzilla or Bryan Cranston in this movie, then don't bother. Godzilla is on screen less than 15mins of the time - including those periods where you just see glimpses of him poking out of the water. Bryan Cranston probably has even less screen time. Ken Watanabe and Sally Hawkins are also completely wasted in this movie. Ken just seems to have a constipated look on his face most of the time and does not add any value whatsoever to the story line. I think they have him as the token Japanese bloke. Likewise Sally is there as the token female scientist who does not actually do anything. What little there is of Monster on monster fights is plain dumb - the camera just switches away partway through a fight and when it returns the fight is over and the monster is heading away?? No explanation - nothing. The end fight is also confusing and badly lit and you cant be sure what is going on. Total waste of 2hrs of my time.

The trailer got me hooked, it looked so intense, Bryan Cranston is amazing considering he's only in it for 15 mins or so. The trailer lied. The story is all over the place. It doesn't even make sense at times. Godzilla himself looks amazing. The cgi is impressive, but it's a shame those other monsters look like ironing boards. The plot is weak and me and my friends felt lied to. I've never experienced that with a movie before, never.
