Walt Kowalski, Veteran des Koreakrieges, ist alles andere als erfreut, als eine koreanische Familie in seine einst allamerikanische Nachbarschaft zieht, die zunehmend unter Gangproblemen und Verbrechen leidet. Zunächst scheinen sich all seine Vorurteile zu bestätigen, doch als deren Tochter belästigt und deren Sohn eines Nachts von einer Gang angegriffen wird, schreitet Walt ein. Genug ist genug. Grumpy tough cynical grandpa with strong xenophobic attitude and haunted by his military past gets befriended by young asian girl and her family; more or less against his will. Half of the movie is about him opening up and overcoming his bias. When the inevitable disaster strikes the family, it's Dirty Harry to the rescue. Regarding the general themes, Gran Torino is nothing new. But the acting of all the characters is very solid and the dialogues are often hilarious and very politically incorrect. While the plot is quite predictable for most of it's parts, I did not expect the ending. Both, Kowalsky's actions and Eastwood's movie past, deceived me here. Well done.

Eastwood als Griesgram -Klasse! Der Film hat durch Eastwood einen ganz speziellen (auch rassistischen) Humor. Mich hat die Mimik total an die Dirty Harry Zeit erinnert. Der Film ist teils urkomisch, teils spannend und vor allem ein Unterhaltungsmeisterwerk.

Ich habe diesen Film auf blue Ray .. Er ist und bleibt der beste Film .. Der Film selbst wurde einst nur wegen dem 74 GT gedreht .. Der sinn bzw. Die Handlung im Film selbst ist eine andere was sehr gut verpackt wurde .. Kann ihn nur empfehlen
