Guitarist Jerry Garcia was the leader of one of the most popular rock bands of all time, the Grateful Dead. Of the busy musician's numerous side projects, none lasted longer or was more creatively fruitful than his duo with mandolin player David Grisman, with whom he collaborated from the time they met in the mid-1960s until Garcia's death in 1995.
