Sandra Bullock and George Clooney star in this heart-pounding thriller written, set in the infinite and unforgiving realm of deep space. Bullock plays a brilliant medical engineer on her first shuttle mission, with Clooney as a veteran astronaut in command of his last flight before retiring. But on a seemingly routine spacewalk, disaster strikes. The shuttle is destroyed, leaving the two completely alone -- tethered to nothing but each other and spiraling out into the blackness. The deafening silence tells them they have lost any link to Earth...and any chance for rescue. As fear turns to panic, every gulp of air eats away at what little oxygen is left. But the only way home may be to go further out into the terrifying expanse of space.

I thought to blame the media for how I was mislead into believing this film was something more, however the trailers contributed as well. Far from being an action and/or Sci Fi film, not a great deal actually happens, apart from Sandra Bullock spinning endlessly in space waiting for a miracle to happen... Not very thought provoking or entertaining - Apparently this movie won a lot of film awards, strange...

I really enjoyed this movie. The effects were amazing. I do have to say though that this movie isn't for everyone. I felt at times that it was dragging on a bit, but I'm sure that was intended.. and I'm probably just a bit impatient. It's definitely a drama rather than an action/adventure movie, even though it does have it's edge-of-your-seat cinematic moments. The drawn out feeling of some parts, and some incredibly far-fetched scenes, are what caused me to give this one less star. Otherwise, a decent film.

If you remove Sandra Bullock from this film and replace her with someone that can act better then this would be a masterpiece. The CGI is amazing as well as the sound mix and soundtrack. It is very realistic for the most part and Clooney's acting was great. Again Sandra Bullock was annoying and cliche in this movie. Get it while its free or wait for it to cost a buck...
